Online Business Directory Scam... Hang Up if They Call You

I was contact on 8/12 by a sales person from Blue Yellow Book asking if I wanted to cancel or renew the subscription with them. At this point I had no idea who they were but I said that I wanted to cancel because someone else might have signed up with them by mistake. I was then transferred to the cancellation department and they told me that my conversation was being recorded and I said OK. It then took about 10 min and getting transferred two more times before they gave me a cancellation number.

I got the bill today for $698.00, I then looked over the bill and it had almost no information on it about the agreement and look like it was printed straight off a Word template

I called the 800 number to ask who authorized the charge and what service we got for the money. I was told that it was authorized by the managing partner of my company (Kept calling him Greg but his name is Craig) but there was no written contract and they had no recording of the verbal agreement. I asked the owner and he had no recollection of ever talking to them or authorizing the charge.

When I asked what we got they said that we got listed on their website, I then went to their website and took a look. (blueyellowbook.com) The website is a complete mess and doesn't even work properly. It doesn't have any related heading for our business (junk removal) and 90% of the listings in Seattle are either the same listing spammed over and over again or they have a street address as the name of the company. I don't anyone who would want to pay $700 to be listed on this unprofessional website.

Also the lady I talk to said that she was going to call me back the next day with more information (recording of the verbal agreement, advertisement proof...) but I has been two days and still nothing.

I am going to refuse to pay them and would rather pay a lawyer the same amount to take care of the problem. I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the FTC. I would recommend anyone else dealing with the same problem to file a complaint. Also I would be interested in joining a class action law suite
