Of MD is a Rip-off. Better Business Bureau a JOKE

I purchased a new "base" from Star Computer, at a computer show. This was after we had several in mine, and had spoken to several salespeople. Everything was included. When I got home, I found they had downloaded only part of windows 98, and had not given me the disk as promised. Nor were there any instructions for the drives that were included.

I tried for several weeks to get ahold of the salesman, with no luck. Finally I spoke to the manager who just refused to believe anything I had to say. He was very hard to understand. He told me to bring the computer back and he would give me my money back. I went to the computer show, to purchase the computer there, to save money.

I felt that if I spoke to the salesman everything would work out. After a month, I realised I had been scammed. I contacted Microsoft who informed me that what Star computer had done was illegal. They started their own investigation.

I then reported this to the Better Business Bureau (they are a joke) Part of this deal was a warranty. Two months after purchasing this new computer, frustrated that I couldn't get certain things working, like the floppy drive, I took the computer to Tandy Corp. They found I had a rebuilt computer with parts that were not working. It was also, filthy inside. They had to replace the floppy drive immediately.

Now the cd-rom is acting up and this computer is only 8 months old. Obviously from the way Star Computer has acted, I can't count on the warranty, because they wouldn't replace damaged parts or they wouldn't be there in the first place.

The Better Business Bureau of Md has had this complaint for 6 months and we've gone nowhere. What exactly does the Better Business Bureau do? They certainly haven't acted like they are concerned with consumers being ripped off. I even forwarded the emails from Microsoft saying that what Star Computers had done was illegal. Isn't that enough?

Next time, I'll know that these computer shows and the companies in them are just problems waiting to happen...
