Melaleuca
Inc. Products are NOT safe for the entire family, as the company proclaims!

Internet & Web

Melaleuca states that their products are safe for use on all members of your family, including your pets. You can also purchase a book from R.M. Barry Publications that details how to make recipes with the products for use in your home, on your body and on your pets. Marketing executives like to pass on their own recipes, and share their experiences. I have heard time and time again, as a former Melaleuca customer, how so-and-so uses the products on their pets and it's fine.

Fact: Melaleuca oil, also known as Tea Tree Oil, is toxic to cats. It is even listed as a toxic substance on the ASPCA list of toxins. I think they are far more informed and forthcoming about what can harm your pets than Melaleuca will ever be.

Melaleuca and it's marketing executives will tell you that (a) it isn't true, (b) the oil the ASPCA mentions is of lesser quality than what Melaleuca uses, and/or (c) that the quantities of the oil in their products is so small as to not be a problem. This is what I personally was told by both my enroller and the company itself.

From personal experience I can tell you this is all lies. The oil is toxic to cats - some are affected differently or to a lesser degree than others - but the toxicity exists. I have four cats, and one developed severe illness that was diagnosed as a result of exposure to Melaleuca oil. While he is healthy now, it took over $600 in vet bills and many weeks to get him straight.

Warning: this oil can kill your cats. Don't believe Melaleuca's rhetoric. They are in the business to sell you products - of course they will tell you it's harmless.

Not to mention, if there's so little of the oil in their products, as they claim in order to refute this information, then what makes them worth the exhorbitant prices they charge, and what makes them better than other brands?
