E-Bay Auction
Bidding frauds

Internet & Web

I want to make you all aware of something that occurs frequently on the E-Bay auction called "shill bidding". It is where a seller uses alias userID's (non-existant bidders) to push up the bids on their auction items. Of course this is illegal, but MANY sellers are involved in it. After all, where money is involved...

For example, userID is an alias of the seller. Use the E-Bay Search feature and look up london777's current and recent bids. You'll find that almost every one of this userID's bids are on steal-a-record's auction items! That seller uses this alias userID (among others) to increase the bids on their auctions, or to maximize the "reserve bids" of honest bidders. I've informed E-Bay about thier bidding scam,
and we'll see if they take any action. I doubt it, though. That would likely open up a controversy I'm sure E-Bay would rather remain dormant. Bad for business, you know?

If you want to retract your bid on the an E-Bay item whose seller you suspect is shill bidding, use this link:

E-Bay Bid Retraction: http://pages. Ebay.com/services/buyandsell/retract-bid.html

You have every right to retract your bid before the close of an auction. Sellers can only give negative feedback to WINNING bidders. I cringe when I see someone getting victimized by shill bidding on the E-Bay auction. You should verify the bidders on an auction item as well as the seller of the item. Do they have positive ratings? Alias userID's usually have either no ratings or just a few, most likely from their parent seller. As in life, corruption is rampant on E-Bay and other such auction sites. Be an aware consumer!
