I have kept all the communications between myself and hughes so called "tech support" because I was a little skeptical of this service when I signed up. The first 60 days were OK, but after that speeds dropped to less than dial up and I was unable to access many sites that I have never had issues with in the past (on a real ISP).

Initially it took like 2 weeks to get the installer out to my house. When he got there he said that I would have bad service unless I put a pole in the yard because it was way more secure and would hold the dish in place in bad weather / wind (only another $125... Ouch) Then had me do 1/2 the work running the cable under the house etc... (pouring rain that day too btw. I was soaked to the bone helping this sucker and he still billed the hell out of me!)

After the install it took another week for hughes to get my account setup correctly. The installer couldn't get the code they gave him to work so I had to take care of it and get a new one myself.

Every call to "tech support" starts and ends with some arab saying "sir, please reboot your router", "ok now sir, please reboot your computer", "I need to put you on hold for one minute sir", "i'm sorry sir, it seems that there is something else going on here, please call back later" What a bunch of horse shit.

I finally got to the point that I dealt with it all and rode out the contract they suck you into (15 months @ $60 per month... Ouch) and finally got back on to dial up a few days ago! Now we are cookin' For $8.95 per month I am surfing every single website I can dream up and it's "fast" especially compared to the crap they sell.

Toward the end of the contract term my speed dropped to 200 bytes per second! Thats 1/5 of a kb! I am a network admin and webmaster by trade and understand the fundamentals of computing / networking. There is no excuse for what they offer and the price is simply outrageous.

Others have complained about the FAP (Fair Access Policy), but honestly I couldn't even get high enough speeds to violate the policy. Didn't have enough time to surf and it was painfully slow when trying to do so.

Hughes offers NO support, NO speed, NO options and NO class!

Oddly the only decent experience I had with them was when I called to cancell the service. They started to try and give me the run around, but with a few sharp NO's they backed off and terminated my account (after the contract period of course) Suckers need to be taken down so no one else has to deal with their crap and waste their money.

As of now I am stuck with $625 in worthless equipment decorating my yard. Not sure what to do with it yet. Wish there was something I could do to get even with these ripoff artists. Apparently though they are making money and don't have a care in the world.

Stay away from HUGHES unless you hate your time and money. If you have plenty to waste then they are the company for you. Seriously~!
