Circuit City
Pricing scam

Internet & Web

Circuit City's website advertised an Acer Aspire AM 1610 desktop computer for $399.99. I called C.C. On their 800# and was told I could pick the item up at a local store. Later that day the store called me and said that there had been an error and they did not stock this item. (The website indicated that they did have it in stock) I then called back and reordered and said I would like to have it delivered to my home. Just as I was finishing the order the sales rep put me on hold. When she returned she said that she had lost all my info. I went through the whole thing again and she assured mr that the order was placed. I checked the website the following day and found that three different order numbers had been assigned and that they were all cancelled! They did bill my credit card for three computers however. I called them and was assured that my card would be credited. I'm still waiting.

I checked the Wal-Mart website and noted that they had the same computer for $499.99. It's hard to believe that Circuit City could undersell Wal-Mart by $100.00 for an item in this price range. This is my theory: Circuit City put the wrong price on their website and in order to save money decided that if anyone order this computer they would simply cancel the order and disregard the customer. I'm sure I'm not the only victim of the scam
