Switched Prices, horrid return policy... Biggest. Rip. Off. Ever. Ontario

Internet & Web

I placed an order from Overstock for several items after seeing their ads on tv. What a shock to not only get the wrong items but to find out their return policy is for a partial refund if the package is opened! How do you check your purchase on an unopened item?

I ordered area rugs for 24.99 and computer speakers for 49.99 among other things that haven't arrived yet. When the speakers arrived I hooked them to my computer and they were terrible sounding, with a crackling noise coming from them. I decided to return them but waited until after the holiday to contact them. I went to the site to follow the directions and when I completed the steps I was supposed to get a prepaid label. Didn't happen. I did however get three e-mails telling me I had. I then went to live chat, no help there. I was told I would get only a partial refund if they had been opened!

I then tried the telephone where I found that according to them, and now the site, I paid 25.00 dollars for the speakers and 49.99 for the, by now received, cruddy rugs. There is no way on earth I would have paid that for the throw rugs I ordered, AND they are the wrong rugs. Ugliest things I've ever seen but now I'm stuck with both the speakers and the rugs because i "opened" them.

I know I'm not crazy, my niece was sitting right here with me when I ordered. The speakers were originally 101.99 for 49.99 so how they became 25.00 dollar speakers is beyond me. As for the rugs I can't even find the monstrousities they sent me on the site at all although I found the ones I ordered now selling for 49.99. Yep, a screw up, but not by me. I'm guessing they were new items and all the prices were mixed up. The rep I spoke with on the phone admitted as much.

Another thing, the speakers were shipped from a person named James Chung in Ontario, Ca. Owner of Overstock? Who knows. All I know is I got ripped big time and unless I decide to take legal action I'm stuck with garbage. I think Overstock needs a class action suit. I'm certainly thinking of getting an attorney for myself.

Don't trust their ads! Their stuff is worthless, their return policy stinks, and their help is NO help. I shudder to think what the bath mats that have yet to arrive are going to look like.

Beware of this outfit!
