U-Bid
Sells "knockoffs" or counterfeit items!

Internet & Web

Some time back, I bought a Viceroy watch from Ubid. They claimed the value of the watch was over $2,000 US. I confirmed the quality of the brand via internet advertising, etc... One thing to note was that it was only distributed in Europe and Asia. I paid about 10% of the "retail" amount and was ecstatic about the "deal" I received.

Later, I noticed the watch was running slow. I took it to a reputable jeweler for an adjustment. He proceeded to inform me that it was in fact a cheap forgery and it did not have enough "fine tuning" to make it run correctly (it would either run slightly slow, or significantly fast).

Over some time (months) after filing my first and subsequent complaints with Ubid customer service and demanding a refund, I watched as they sold more of these fake watches via their website. This indicated to me that they knew - or should have known - they were selling "knockoffs" and did nothing about it.

To this day (over a year later), Ubid has NEVER responded to my complaints. What makes their action even less understandable is that I had been a very good customer to them and purchased many items over some 2 years (most of which appear to be the real thing). Ubid has remained completely mute on this issue and I am out $200 US for a $20 watch.
