Computer Career Institute
Offered a certification and job placement with money back promise they didn't keep

Internet & Web

I found this company through an online report by a consumer reporter for a TV station in Oklahoma. I don't remember which one as that it was just an article about home based businesses and jobs. It talked about making money through blogging and that this school taught you how to do that. The average person makes a couple thousand a month and they find you companies to blog for.

At the time I signed up their website had a link to their BBB grade. They had an A. I felt I had covered all my bases and I signed up. The course was pretty much just how to sign up to blogger.com and how to sing up for affiliate programs like Commission Junction and Amazon.com. I already had accounts with these companies through a website I ran until around march of this year.

I emailed them to verify their job placement program was not simply a Affiliate program. They assured me it wasn't. So I went on but a little leary about the whole thing.

Once the course was finished, they didn't send me a certificate of any sort. Just an email saying I passed the test and was now a Certified Web Promotion specialist. I found that to be very odd as that its suppose to be a school and even Suite101 gives out certificates for their programs.

I told them I wanted them to find me a job thorugh job placement and I waited a month. I contacted them several times and all they would say is we have no control over the companies that hire through us. If they want you, they will contact you. This seemed a bit odd in and of itself. I know how job placement programs work and thats not really it.

So I emailed them and said I want a refund you have yet to find me a job. Their answer was yes we did. When you signed up for Amazon.com and Ebay's affiliate program you became employed by two fortune five hundred companies.

I don't know about all of you, but employment is an actual job. They assured me it would be an actual job and not just freelance work. They sell it as a real job. But, its not its just self employment and if your really good and have money to advertise your blog, you might actually make money from, but its not real likely. Its been nearly 3 months now and Ive made a whole 15 cents off of Goggles ADsense. Again, I had that account before as well and it isn't a job.

I reported them to the BBB who basicly just told them I had complained and that was it. Their BBB rating has been removed from their website. It is now an F. But, they still claim they have 100 percent customer satisfaction which is crap considering how many people have now rated them with the BBB as ripping them off.

Im writing this report in hopes that no one else will make the same mistake I did. Do not buy anything from these people. I asked for proof they sent my name to any company and they refused to provide it. Which tells me they probably don't even have a job placement program.

There was nothing in those lessons the average Joe couldn't have figured out for himself. Heck I found commission Junction through my website host. Amazon.com advertises its programs. Everything is easy to find. Ebay goes through commission Junction. Don't make the same mistake. You will be out 249 dollars and wishing you had never met these people.
