The Chubb Institute
False Advertisement: Help with Career Placement

Education & Science

I am one of many new "graduates" of The Chubb Institute Manhattan Campus.

My complaints about the school are many, from not having updated software or supplies to complete our projects with, to poor instructors.

However, my main complaint (also voiced by former as well as my graduating peers) is that The Chubb Institute has desperately failed to see though any of the promises of "career placement". That being the main sales pitch that sold us all to enroll into the school to begin with.

After all, why would so many undereducated or unexperienced individuals sign up to a career school to begin with knowing how unemployable they are, unless they are offered possible employment. That was the bait and it continues to pull in unsuspecting clients through the doors only to have them end up with a large loan and high interest rates to pay of with no prospective employers to be found.

While it is evident that many entry level positions currently seek an applicant to have a BA to apply for most computer related positions, Chubb is very misleading in it's interview process while screening potential students, offering them a chance to be trained and helped with seeking an entry level position in their new "career".

Verifiably, we all bear witness and can testify to the "intake procedure" which mislead us to believe that paying the tuition and enrolling into this school would eventually lead us to potential employers and interviews. The verbalized promise that this effort would be co-ordinated through the efforts of the schools graduate placement office, is only a verbal diatribe which is never officially or legally back in writing. Leaving their claim of graduate placement to be nothing more than a whimsical way of making a fraudulent claim while making no legal commitment to it.

During the enrollment screening process we were about a "portfolio night" where companies would be called in to view our work and possibly hire students as well a "life-time" return to graduate placement offer which would ensure us continual possibilities of future interviews with their "list" of companies known to have "hired" Chubb students. The pitch also included a "95% graduate employment" rate which again was without any documented proof or actual statistics.

The truth of the matter is that the graduate placement does little to nothing for job placement. There has never been a "portfolio-night", company lists to contact, nor interviews scheduled for possible placement.

The aim of the school is to supply a very base education in the offered programs and wish their students luck in finding employment while stating that they do not promise employment, only employment possibilities; which in the end they fail to meet.

With this, I must ask what the legal criteria and placement percentage rate must be for an educational facility to be able to claim to posses any type of graduate placement department.

Many thanks for any possible information.
