Impossible to stop unwanted auto-renewal

I have similar problems with McAfee.
They charged my credit card for auto-renewal without prior notice and without my permission. McAfee have made it very easy to subscribe and to extend or upgrade a subscription, but extremely difficult to cancel a subscription. It is easy to change the credit card information online on their website, but impossible to remove the credit card information or replace it with an invalid or expired credit card number.
When trying to cancel the auto-renewal I am directed to a customer support search page which says "Click the continue button", but there is no button. I finally found a customer service form. When I filled out the form and pressed the send button, I got the message: "An error has occurred. Please contact Customer Service". A catch 22! It is virtually impossible to get through on the phone.
A search reveals that many customers have had similar problems, and that McAfee have promised to fix the alleged technical problems but have failed to do so. They have deliberately made it extremely difficult to cancel a subscription! The best way to get through is on their chat service.
BTW. I am not satisfied with the product (Anti Virus). It makes my computer intolerably slow and makes certain other programs not work.
