I had signed up for a people a 24 hour people search service on PublicRecordsNow.com in June to help a friend find information on someone. When I was looking at my credit card statement at the beginning in August I found a charge to 24Protect Plus.
I called the number on the statement to find out what this service was and how I became a member. I thought it is was pretty interesting that one of the options deals exactly with that question - so I pressed that option.
An operator came on the phone and I told him I was being charged for their service that I never signed up for and wanted to know how my "membership" started. They told me it was started through publicrecordsnow.
I told him that I never authorized this and wanted my membership canceled and a full refund of my money. The guy on the other end processed my request and said I will see a refund sometime in the next 2 credit card statements.
I sent an emai lto publicrecordsnow.com - not an easy task as their contact information is not very easy to find - telling them what happened and that I would be reporting them here and to the BBB. We will see if I will be reporting the other company.
