PC disaster. Tech support waste of time & $. 16 days now what a RIPOFF

I am not new to computers. Nor to Gateway. This is my 3rd PC from Gateway. Each one has had problems. (glutton for punishment I guess)... But it is my last system from them.

Seems Gateway tech supports answer to everything is re-install windows. What they don't tell the client is the nightmares that follow this re-installation. They don't explain you will probably have to download new drivers to make your sound work again. They don't warn you much of your hardware and probably software will no longer be recognized by the PC. They don't tell you they won't support most of these problems either.

They told me to reinstall windows due to tower shutting itself down and the wonderful Gateway Go-Back locking up. It could not be disabled or bypassed. So I did reinstall windows. (8 hours). Still problems. Several tech persons later - they decided it was the power source. So they sent me a new one. Yes. This fixed the shutting down problem. Re-installing windows was not necessary (as usual)..

Many new problems now. Computer won't recognize much of the same software and hardware that was working fine before. Will tech support help??? No. Since I did not buy this hardware from them they will not support it. Even though they have or do sell the exact same hardware. (this is a BIG RIPOFF) Plain bull. They blame the hardware. Tell you to contact the product company for answers.

The product companies are nice and do all they can to help you re-configure your system - which should be Gateway tech supports job not Kodak or Epson.

So here I sit with a big $ system and cannot use my scanner, my dig camera or my slave drive to back up. The dang thing feezes up, sound goes up and down and on and off and more.

All I get is lip service from Gateway. No answers or solutions. But I have logged in about 20 phone hours and have at least 20 pages of email from tech support. Reading it all back is better than the funny papers.

Last system I had I finally took it to town to a local techician who fixed it in one hour. Sure it cost me but worth it to bypass days and days of trying to get a solution from Gateway tech support. Its been 17 days now - with this one. DON'T WASTE YOUR money paying for extended warranty. Heck - the first year they include with purchase is worthless let alone paying for more.

I am now shopping for a new PC. It will not be from Gateway. I will take my chances elsewhere. Although I am not done with the issue with Gateway. I will continue to hound tech, customer support and anyone else there that I can until I get some satisfaction.

Was told by Gateway Support that a recovery disk for my Gateway Solo 4026 Laptop would be shipped to me within 2 weeks. Now they are saying NO recovery disk is available for my laptop
