Aol
Ripoff Fradulent charges after cancelation

Internet & Web

My husband had download a 3-month free trial last year and then call to cancel the membership in August 06. There was no problem in dealing with cancelation as it has been reported by so many people, so we think AOL has been ethical and get their act together.

Just a few days ago, my husband checked his bank statement and found that there has been charges from the cancelation date, August 06 until June 07 (10 months).

He put a stop payment with a bank and called AOL to get refund on this fradulent charge. The response: the customer rep tried to lie and said the account was active. So my husband told it was cancelled by phone in August and said he know the conversation was recorded. So, she checked the record and confirmed that it was cancelled in August 06. She told my husband to send copy of the bank statements to show that the charges were made. It does not make sense to me why they cant see this in their payment record, instead having us to prove the charges. Also, she gave a wrong fax number to which the letter/proofs were to be sent.

I have read so many similar cases out there... Can someone/EDITOR please tell us whats the outcome of their request for refund? What should we do if they gave hard time to get the refund? Any information on class action suit in MA?

Thank you so much for information on this.
