Net 7311 Debit Card Charged $12.45... I have no idea what this charge is... BUT, I sort of tracked it down! Florida, Oregon

Internet & Web

I can't believe I'm a victim of a fraudulent charge to my debit card. I admittedly shop and purchase on the internet but only supposedly secure sites. On February 14, a $12.45 charge was on my bank statement with a notation of Net 7311. I did not recognize it so I called my bank. The only information they had was a toll free number, 888-223=5572.

I called that number and it doesn't even ring but you get a recording which I could hardly understand but I was told to leave a message. Naturally, there was no return call. So I called it several times and the last time I left a message that I was going to report them to the police. Well, unfortunately I wasn't home when somebody did call back from the number
305-603-1801.

On my caller ID, the name "Business Tech" is listed as that number. The person named "David" said that if I had a charge that was not initiated by me, I should simply call and spell my name and give the last six digits of my credit card and they would credit my card for the $12.45 charge. When I called the 305 number, you get a recording that "All circuits are busy; please try your call later." An that's all you get.

So I called the toll free number and left a message for "Joseph" who supposedly will return your call. I figured they already have my debit card number so I gave my name and the last six digits of my card. I am waiting to see what happens next.

I searched both telephone numbers. For the toll free number, there was no information. But the 305 number let me to complaints where I found the link to RSI Partners. The website that is stated there is no longer active.

Then on reading other complaints, mostly about a $9.95 unknown charge, I discovered that some people were saying they had purchased items from Batteries.com. I have also previously purchased from Batteries.com. These people were wondering about a possible link between RSI Partners and Batteries.com. Batteries.com has filed a suit against RSI Partners but I don't know the outcome. I mean it's only $12.45 and not thousands of dollars but it makes me very wary.

How did this fraudulent outfit get my card number? And does this prove that is really not safe to purchase over the internet? Advice? Help??? Thank you.
