Ripoff unwilling to honor product warranty

On May 30 I purchased a Go-Kart for my children from XXX-Motorsports. I received it on June 6 and had it assembled by a licensed mechanic as required under the warranty. On June 9 while the Kart was being driven, the engine cuaght fire which completely destroyed the Kart.
I contacted XXX-Motorsports and was first told that they would work with me on replacing the Kart and I should contact the Manufacturer. The manufacturer initially told me that they would replace the Kart, but on November 1 they advised me that I would have to contact XXX-Motorsports again because there was nothing that they could do.
I contacted XXX-Motorsports again and they said I would have to furnish them with a copy of the Fire Department report and proof that a licensed mechanic had assembled the Kart. I complied with their requests. I was then told that they would replace the Kart, but I would have to pay an additional $900. The original Kart cost $1750.
I made a counter-offer of $750, which I did relunctantly. I was told to contact them after Christmas.
I called them on Jan. 16 and was told that the person I had originally been dealing with was no longer with the company. I sent this new person several of the e-mails between myself and my first contact. No response.
I called them on Jan. 23 and was told that the best they could do was their original offer. I would get a new Kart if I paid an additional $900.
Whatever happened to customer service, or making the customer happy. Had this been resolved to my satisfaction, I would have happily referred business to them.
It has been 8 longs months and I still do not have a Go-Kart for my kids.
