OfficeMax
Office Max ripoff false advertising

Internet & Web

I ordered a laptop through their website (Averatec 2370 for $599.99) the day before Thanksgiving as part of their black friday sales promotion. For a week after my order status was listed as "Shipping within 6-9 days". Then my item was placed on backorder. After calling their customer service number I was told that it would be back in stock within ten days. One day later the order was canceled. I called their customer service number again and was told that they do not have any more in stock and aren't getting any more. When a company such as Office Max offers a product like this at a greatly reduced price ($300) it is incumbent upon them to limit the orders to what they can fill. If they did not have sufficient stock to fill online orders then they should not have posted it online or pulled the item from the website when that number was reached. Office Max knew how many they had on hand. Office Max knew how many were ordered from their website. If nothing else they should have put any of the orders over the number on hand on backorder right away instead of stringing their customers along. Office Max will not get any of my future business again.
