1 And 1,1&1,1and1, Internet Incorporated Ripoff Gross Incompetence Failure to Resolve Issues and Dishonesty

Of all web hosting organizations I've dealt with in my career, this one has to be the most incompetent (which is saying alot). On 5/15,1&1 Internet Inc. Upgraded their Microsoft servers from ASP.net 1.1 to 2.0. All sites that were hosted using ASP.net 1.1 ceased to function, including my company's. 1&1 did NOT provide any backwards compatibility to ASP.net 1.1 with this upgrade, or a transistional period. Also, they did not provide adequate warning to their users. I immediately contacted their technical support line, and was told that all customers wanting ASP.net 1.1 support would have to make a "special" request (this is also incompetent from a technical perspective, it should have been the other way around for 2.0 support because it is not yet widely used). As of 5/19, after 8 calls to their support staff, and many assurances that this would be resolved soon and that it had been escalated to high priority case, my issue still has not been resolved. I was also told by level 2 support that they could not contact their admins to escalate this further and to get an estimated time of completion. I was told "well, are admins aren't around phones". This was an obvious lie, and after walking her through how much of a lie it was, she finally relented and said "well, yes, she could contact them". Well, after she "tried" to contact them, they didn't answer, and apparently they don't have voice mail either. Also, this isn't my first frustration with this company, there have been many other minor, unrelated incidents.

To sum it up, this company is grossly incompetent, works off of volume, and has little concern for it's customers. If you read this report and are considereing 1&1, run the other way.
