Sold me computer parts that did not work, kept the parts and refuse to refund

On 23 March I took a PC to PE Technologies for a new modem and a blue tooth dongle. They supplied both after identifying the computer as a pentium 2 running Win98SE.

We required the parts to use the PC on our stand at a trade show the upcoming weekend. At the show we found that the modem is faulty and the blue tooth device hangs the PC as soon as it is plugged in.

We had no choice but to buy another modem and we used a cable connection instead of the dongle and cellphone to go online.

The following week, we returned the modem and dongle stating the reason for the return as above. PE Technologies told us that they will have the components checked by the suppliers and will replace or refund.

It is now more than a month later and several promises were made and broken by them. They have not returned calls once, did not respond by e-mail and, when we called in person, we were told that they require the original packing for the parts before any replacement or refund can be made.

The dongle was supplied in a blister pack which we threw away after opening it and the modem was returned packaged as we recieved it. I made the point that no one keeps a blister pack which is destroyed by the act of opening it. They said that their invoice states that packaging material must be retained. Our invoice does not state this.

Bottom line is we have no parts and they have our money.
