Ripoff, shady, untruthful, beware of this company

I found this website, applied for a computer, sent in the required paperwork and paid my $99 deposit. Unfortunately, I decided to search complaint after I did all this.

Anyway, they got my application and approved it on February 2. The deposit was debited from my checking account on February 6. Per their website I should have received my computer within 3 weeks. Of course, after reading through the reports on this website, I knew that wasn't going to happen.

I patiently just waited, didn't call or email, just waited to see what would happen. On March 30 I received a call from a representative in the evening. She told me that PC Directbiz was having problems receiving the computers that are on order and have decided to revamp their entire system, only offering two different desktop models and two laptops. She said I could pick one of these or get my $99 back.

While I was on the phone with her I went to their website. It was the same, offering all the same models as when I applied. I questioned her about this, she said that they are so behind that they haven't had time to change the website yet. Since I had already written off getting my $99 back, I told her I would take one of the new models. She thanked me, told me I would have it by April 6 and thanked me for my patience, etc.

I waited two additional weeks, often checking their website to see if any changes were ever made. Of course there wasn't. Finally I called on April 13. I spoke to a gentleman, asking if he could check the status of my order.

He pulled up my account by my last name. He said that I was part of a long list of people they were calling because some of our application information was unable to be verified. He said that once all people are contacted my computer will be shipped.

When I reviewed with him what the female rep told me two weeks ago, he was speechless. He said she was mistaken, they still had all the same deals and the reason she offered me a different system was because they couldn't verify my information. I asked him what wasn't verified, because I have the same job I have had for almost 10 years and they didn't ask for any references. He said he didn't have access to this information.

I ended the conversation by telling him that I was pretty uncomfortable with all the different information coming from the same company, and I would rather not buy a computer from them. He was agreeable and told me I should have refund of the $99 deposit back w/in 30 days.

While everyone I talked to at this company was pleasant enough, I get the feeling that the reps that call out/answer calls are not even quite sure what is going on. It remains to be seen if I get a refund, but I will update if I do. Just a costly lesson learned, and hopefully someone will be smarter than I was and read complaint before ordering.
