Business webdesign fraud, took $2,300 and was never heard from again ripoff

We approached Mr E Guart who stated he did web designs through his company to do a coffee and tea ecommerce website for our business. He told us it would cost $ 5,200 or a bit more and asked for half of the money for the first phase of the design. He also stated that for $375.00 we could get labels made with our logo and the colors of the website that he would design.

So we gave him the $375.00 dollars for the labels and $2,300.00 dollars for the web site after he showed us the first template. We asked him if he could change the colors a bit to fit our original vision for the website and at that time he became irate and stated that he could not go back to the "web artist" and ask them to do that because they could not!

We have attempted to speak to him several times and he has not returned our calls. We sent him a letter asking him for our money back and to no avail have not heard or seen him since then. I don't know if this is a common pratice of web designers but I do hope that no one does business with him and his company. It has cost us alot of time and aggravation as well as loss of product (coffee & tea) and money because we had to find another web designer to start over with.
