Early December I signed up for one month free service with peoplepc online. I was unable to get an online connection, even after calling their technical staff. I called to cancel unusable service on December 15th. The peoplepc representative gave me another free month of service while I tried to correct connection problem with technical staff. I agreed.
After more calls to techincal service, there still was no connection. I called January 17th to cancel service. After insisting several times that I wanted to cancell my service the reprentative finally agreed and gave me a cancellation number.
My February credit card bill showed a $49.95 charge on January 13th from peoplepc. I called the company, and was told the 30-day service is considered a pre-paid agreement (it's embedded deep in their 11 page service agreement) and because I did not cancel before the free service period expired, that I was charged the entire pre-paid fee. I explained that on December 15th, I was given a one month extension of the free trial.
She explained that the extended free trial time had expired. (They must have reset the 1 month free trial starting December 15th, instead on adding on an addition month). After I complained that I never received any service from the company, the representative said that the company would get back with me in 3-5 business days.
