Napster
Trap subscription ripoff

Internet & Web

Be careful in subscribing to Napster. It is easy to subscribe via the internet, but when I decided to cancel after six months, it was very, very hard. You can't cancel via the internet. You must call a phone number. When I called the number at 9am EST on Friday, December 30, I got a recording that said the service was down, that I should anticipate a wait, and that I should try back sometime next week!

I feel that a person who subscribes by way of the internet should be able to unsubscribe via the internet. To force people to track them down at their convenience to cancel a subscription shows Napster's ultimate disrespect for customers.

Trying to trap customers by making it very hard to cancel sounds like a good idea, but it isn't. I would imagine that extremely disatisfied customers like myself ultimately will cost them more than they gain through such a dishonest practice.

They had my business once, but they will never get it again.
