My friend ordered a computer over the phone from Gateway when she got her income taxes back. She had received around $4500. So a $1200 computer was not that much. She put around $3000 in the bank and $500 in savings and the rest in a CD. She then wrote about 10 checks totalling $1500. This paid off old doctor bills, her trailor payment, utilities, and other things that needed paying.

Her Gateway sales person called her saying he could get her a better deal and that the computer would only cost &1005. So she said ok. Well, one day we were at Wal-mart and her Debit card from the bank wouldn't go through. Come to find out her account was negative. Not just a little negative... A couple thousand negative!!!

After making a trip to the bank, we discovered that Gateway had charged her for two computers. We sent them an email asking them why and telling them we did not want two computers. They told her to refuse the delivery. Fed Ex put both the computers on her accross-the-street neighbors' front porch while she was at school. So after corresponding by email with several moronic customer service people, and being told by Fed Ex that the package was sent from Mexico and they couldn't return it (when it said on the box California)... We flagged down a Fed Ex truck and asked them what to do and they told us to drop it off at a drop off point with refused return to sender on it. So we did that.

Meanwhile, I was corresponding with Gateway under her name while she was trying to get over pneamonia. They said the money would be back in 7-10 business days. During the 12 business days, all her checks she wrote to pay her bills bounced. So now, she has $2000 in NSF fees from the bank, 10 bounced checks to pick up, and has just had to have emergency gall bladder surgery. (which the doc said could have been caused by stress).

Now she has District Attourney's breathing down her neck. She might go to jail. Her and her child may lose their home. She is now filing bankruptcy. I honestly don't know what she is going to do. I wish I could stomp Gateway's ass!

I have still been corresponding with the Gateway DA's and they have been telling me they will refund the NSF fees. Ok, they say the money is on the way. 7-10 business days came and went. Still no money. Then one person told me 6 business days. 6 business days went by, still no money. So I had finally had enough, I emailed them and said where is the money? This is it! And they said they refuse to refund the money. This whole catastrophe was their doing, their mistake, their error. THEY should pay! And they will pay! Whether in money or by me giving them bad advertisement... Because believe me I know a LOT of people and not a dam one of them will buy a Gateway and I have bought two, but this one is my last... I won't be a return customer! Gateway will lose more than the measley $2000 they could have paid her.
