Fraudulent phone bill through illegal access to my PC My computer was used to dial 900 number and charges show on my phone bill

On 5 Feb 05 at 12:22am, a call was placed from my computer to InfoservicZZ. This call shows on my phone bill for 2 minutes at a charge of $40.00 plus some tax! This is insane!

This call was not placed by anyone in my household, because my computer is in my bedroom. We were all asleep at 12:22am. It is so convenient that these calls were placed after most normal folks have retired for the night!

This thing evidently piggybacked a virus that wreaked havoc with my PC for several days. My wife was finally able to clean the virus by using a spybot search and destroy program.

I contacted my phone company (Bellsouth), but they were of little assistance. They are reluctant to get involved with other companies adjustments. I am in the process of following up with them.

I contacted Integretel... That was an experience. I first talked with Adam, then Michael, and finally Eugenia (a supposed supervisor), but was unsuccessful in meeting a resolution. They were requiring a billing address to which they would send a voucher for the credit of the charge. I am reluctant to give up any information for fear that such action would appear that I had agreed to this charge. I am also afraid that my billing address would be used as another avenue to steal from me or harrass me.

My billing address was not required to put the charge on my phone bill, so there should not be a need for my billing address to remove the charge!

I view this as the same as someone breaking into my home and stealing from me! This was an invasion of our privacy!

I a filing complaint with the FTC and our local/state TV fraud reporters.

If anyone has received this "credit voucher" and successfully resolved the charges, please let me know, because at this time, I am not giving in to these criminals!
