Aol American On Line - Letter notifying Account cancelled, received a call 3 months latter telling me that I did not cancell membership and owe them money

AOL mailed me a letter informing me that my account has been cancelled and if I wish to reinstate it to call them back and provide a credit card number. Three months later I received a call informing me that I owe them money for not cancelling membership. I think that if an account is cancelled it should go without saying that services are no more. I was not allowed to access the account therefore did not receive services. Always read the fine print regarding cancelling. AOL has memmber services and account services, go figure.
