Company has infected my computer and refused to help

In an attempt to retrieve an SEC filing through Edgar Online I was asked by the company to download and install their reader. During the installation I was asked if I am interested in so and so and I selected not to (not checked the box). In spite of this the installation has resulted in complete reconfiguration of my browsers, two pieces of malware and one virus infected program. When I called Edgar's help desk to get help in removing the threats, I was told they assist only paying customers, i.e. ransom demand. Escalation attempt to the help desk manager was answered that he/she is out of office.

Shame on the company with such low morals, ethical and/or technical standards. How can we rely on such company for extremely sensitive SEC filings or any other services? What if they start allowing publishing of fake filings for money or sell credit card information? BTW: It took me hours to clean the computer and I still have a number of unresolved issues.
