HMA VPN PRO Fraudulent! They have made user information available, despite their website "Not only is your online traffic anonymized, your online identity in the form of an 'IP address' is also hidden"

Internet & Web

I have used HMA for several years and was shocked that they did betrayed the reason why I used them.

In my opinion, Hide My Ass is fraudulent, they clearly mislead their customers into thinking that no one will be able to get their identity. Sure, in the fine print they state that their site should not be used for illegal purposes, but that is not the point, it shouldnt matter, and that is not the only thing at stake here. They state on their website, copied and pasted: "Not only is your online traffic anonymized, your online identity in the form of an 'IP address' is also hidden.

Your IP address is essentially your 'online fingerprint' and identification to the rest of the online world. Your IP address can tell people and websites your physical location and which internet service provider you are using. You wouldn'tshow your identity to a random person in the street, so why would you reveal your online identity and location to potentially millions of online strangers?"

If HMA truly made your IP address hidden by default, that is automatically with no way to find it under any circumstance, then how could it be that the FBI nabbed a hacker using HMA: http://www.hacker10.com/internet-anonymity/hma-vpn-user-arrested-after-ip-handed-over-to-the-fbi/

Part of the value of being anonymous online is to reduce hackers from identifying your physical location etc. Apparently, this is not the case with HMA. I DON'T WANT ANYONE GETTING MY IP ADDRESS OR ANYTHING ELSE: INCLUDING ANY HACKER, MARKETER, RESEARCHER, CHILD MOLESTER, OR AUTHORITY (SOME ARE CORRUPT, WHAT WORLD ARE YOU LIVING IN?)

Question, can HMA be hacked by hackers, and all IP address revealed along with logs? Can my IP address at HMA be lumped into a group of hackers, and I get sued? I thought this was a non issue, but the proof is there, a hacker's internet information was revealed by HMA, who next, will HMA sell their logs to marketers? This is not in accordance with their up-front advertising. There are other VPN services who's systems inherently make it impossible to reveal the IP address of the user, that is what you want with anonymous internet usage (and that is what I thought I was getting until I heard the news they gave up a customers info!)

Definitely misleading advertising!!! Cooperating with authorities is not a rebuttal, just a cheap excuse!!! Or, HMA should put in bold letters on the top of their webpage "We will give out your info at our discretion... But everything else will be encrypted "
