Apple Damages Environment and Fails to Meet Warranty Obligations

My family and I bought a new computer a little more than a year ago. And there were problems with the machine from the very first day. We were sold the machine with a Magic Mouse, and we were told it would work with the system.

First, the Magic Mouse would turn on and off seemingly at random. We noticed, however, that it was more likely to happen when someone walked or drove by with a cell phone - also when other machines were started in the house.

Second, even when it wasn't working correctly, the Magic Mouse was a horrible hazard to the environment. It required new batteries every eight to ten days. Several other customers at Apple's support site (I've never actually seen an Apple tech answer any questions there) told me I was stupid and should just get a battery charger; like Apple, they appeared not to understand that energy for charged batteries still requires power, and - in many locations in the US, including mine - that power comes from the burning of coal.

I tried to call Apple twice. On neither occasion would their representative give me his/her full name, and on both occasions their representative hung up on me as soon as I mentioned the environmental impact of the Magic Mouse.

I tried to tell Apple about the problem at their support site. As soon as I posted that the Magic Mouse had connectivity and ethical problems, my account was deleted. I can't make a new account; as soon as I try, I'm told a message will be sent to my email. And, no matter how many times I try, a message is never sent.

Finally, we sent Apple a registered letter to endeavor to make them meet their basic commitments as a goods and services provider. We were, again, ignored. Apparently, the management at Apple see themselves as the kings here and me and my family as the annoying peasants. Since I don't have the power to make them keep their promises, I at least wanted to warn others: Apple may have gotten moderate-to-decent marks in customer approval in the past, but those reports were either dishonest, misinformed, or - at best - indicative of a company that once cared for its customers but has stopped caring now.

Thank you to all who have read my words. I cannot give my full name or email address on this forum, but I offer the hosts of complaint permission to share my email with anyone who would like to make an inquiry.

Sincerely,
Scott, Apple Victim
