The Granite House is a sober living recovery facility designed to help drug dependant individuals who have been in a recovery program transition to an independent life. My son, age 25 attended a recovery program in PA for several monthes and then chose Granite House as his transition facility, based upon review of their website and discussions with the intake counselor.

IT was evident rather quickly upon arriving that Granite House is a extremely dirty, unsanitary facility and not at all as pictured on their website. He had numerous bedbug bites after just a few days there and when he discussed this, the staff said they were trying to get rid of the bedbugs. However, because of the extremely unsanity condition of the entire home, there was no success if there even was an attempt to eradicate the bedbugs. Since we were not told ahead of time that they had a bedbug problem I felt it was appropriate to request a refund of the $2400 I paid for my son's first month there when he left after just a few days.

The owner Eric Spafford refused and suggested that he would sue me if I told anyone about the problem and cursed at me before hanging up.

In addition, my son said that several of the young men there had confided in him that they had warrants outstanding for their arrest and that they were hiding out there. One individual confessed to having committed murder. The range of unsavory types who apparently frequent Granite House was also a reason I gave Mr Spafford for requesting a refund, that he refused.

I would suggest that anyone looking for a recovery transition facility steer clear of Granite House.
