Attempted Ripoff

I attempted to "inquire" about LA Weight Loss program through two of their centers in the Nashville area. However, before I called, I went on line to their website to learn more about the program.

Their website maintains that one of the "perks" of their program is to accomodate the customer because there are no meeting times and no requirement to buy prepackaged food. However, I quickly learned that this is not the case.

When I called to inquire about programming and pricing, I was immediately (although subtly) pressured to come in that day so that I could "begin seeing results by next week." When I inquired re: pricing, they would not discuss that with me - only to tell me that it ws $8/week, but not pay as you go.

I then emailed the corporate office, because before I go for a 20 - 25 minute consultation, I want to know a general price. Of course, the corporate office would not answer that question either.

Ultimately, I spoke with a respresenative - Jennifer - at the Hermitage office and she explained that, to lose 17 lbs, I would have to sign up for a 52-week program (although only 9 of those weeks included the weight loss portion - because I supposedly will lose 2 lbs/week) the other weeks were for an induction phase and a maintenance phase. Now, this would cost approximately $500 but does not include the price of the bars.interesting that I would be required to purchase the bars even though the website clearly says prepackaged foods are not required.

I also attempted to phone the "corporate office" this morning. I called the number listed in the yellow pages using the address that, supposedly, is the corporate office: 727-725-3059. However, that is not the coporate office. They inquired why I needed to speak to the corporate office and when I would not tell them, they offered to take a message and forward it to the corporate office.

I have been corresponding with Jennifer Pilley, supposedly, at the corporate office. She, obviously, thinks I am a novice who will be easily fooled and manipulated with her lies and deception. And, while my weight is a struggle for me, I consider myself fortunate that I am not so vulnerable as to get sucked in by their blatant lies and deception.

They are preying on those who are overweight and vulnerable. I may be overweight, but I am not stupid or vulnerable. Don't you be either.

The writer from Texas is right. To lose weight, you need to modify your diet and exercise. That's what I'm going to do. And, LA Weight Loss can, as Marcie wrote, SCREW off and SHOVE their program.
