Ripoff, scum buckets, would not help suicidal child in need

Our 16 year old son has been doing drugs for the past 3 years. We just recently found out about this 2 months ago. He refused to go to an outpatient program so we looked to his school for help. After failing numerous drug tests and talking about suicide, a Drug & Alchol Specialist required him to go to an inpatient program.

After finding a Rehabilitation Center that was on our plan and would accept him, we made arrangements to take him there.

When we got there, he once again failed a drug test and talked about suicide. The Counselor and Director knew he needed help. They called Megallen for approval. After 2 hours of the Director and Counselor on the phone with Megallen, they finally got him approved. They said that our deductible would be $1,000.00 and then we would have to pay 10%, which we gladly agreed to.

After our son being in there for 5 days, we received a call from the Rehabilitation Center saying that Megallen refused to pay for anymore treatment. The told the Director that our son did not have a problem, even though they were told that he spoke about suicide.

When my husband found this out, he called Megallen, as well as faxing them a letter and a certified letter. Megallen refused to budge and told me husband that they would not pay for anymore treatment. When my husband informed them that our son could commit suicide if released and that they would be held responsible, their response to him was "So sue us when it happens".

We will be writing letters to the State Insurance Committee, as well as the Governor, Senators, Representatives and anyone else that needs to know about this. We will also be contacting our local newspaper and t.V. Stations, as we have contacts with both.

Needless to say, we have managed to keep our son in for the help that he needs, but I'm sure some other parents have not been so fortunate.

We need to stop Megallen now before someone does kill themself because they did not get the treatment that they needed because of uncaring, moronic insurance companies.
