The staff is highly unprofessional. It was a mistake to rehire so many ofthe Qualia staff.
Kim Grotheer is a prime example. Shes rude, lacks any sense of appropriate interpersonalinteraction, and is unable to separate her personal feelings from herprofessional judgment.in fact, she exhibits many of the signs of Borderline Personality Disorder. Imsurprised no one has noticed this. At Qualia, I once saw her assault a male participant over some minor paperworkmistake. This woman is a sociopathwho probably cannot hold a job anywhere else, and this reflects badly on yourcompany. One of the nurses, Tim, is a homosexual who is also HIVpositive. How can this be evenremotely appropriate where blood is extracted and handled? Another, one of the Beths (the one who recently traveled toEurope), describes herself as a Nurse Ratched, and this is apt shescompletely insensitive to the participants experience. Nicole Mitchell, the head nurse, is also rude but thenthis is common to almost all of the African-Americans who work there. This way of interacting with others maybe normal within their own culture, but the way they act toward participants, and just as frequently toward each other, is inappropriate and unprofessional, and includes off-color banter, profanity, and personal insults. One of the phlebotomists, Kaneetha, behaves with suchoutrageous abandon that she actually injures the participants one twoseparate occasions, she has left bruises at the extraction site as a result ofher rough treatment. She is sobusy insulting and bossing the participants and her co-workers that she barelyhas any attention left for the task at hand. While some of the staff can exhibit kindness from time totime, the overwhelming impression is one of being held captive at a zoo, wherethe trustees appear from time to time, do very little, and leave the wardens tobehave like animals. This place is slightly better than when it was Qualia, but only slightly. The problem, as I think someone haspointed out, is that they rehired a lot of the Qualia staff. One woman in particular, Kim Grotheer, RN, is the worst. I think sheoversees the clinic staff, including the study managers, and this is a mistake - Kim Grotheer, RN exhibits many signs of Borderline Personality Disorder. Kim Grotheer, RN has no interpersonalskills and cannot separate her personal feelings from her professionaljudgment. Nicole Mitchell, RN, whoseems to do more hands-on management of the clinic staff, doesn't seem tounderstand professional behavior either - the staff are rude to participantsand continuously engage in a type of insulting, bossy banter that might be'normal' in African-American circles, but has no place in a professionalorganization. At least Icon didn'trehire that greaseball Juan Jacob Salinas (or John Jacob Salinas, as he triedto become). Salinas slanderedparticipants to staff and to each other, and repeated broke confidentialityagreements. I guess that's whythey fired him.
