CIGNA Healthcare
Ripoff clever method of avoiding payment for prescription drugs

Health & Medicine

Upon purchasing a prescription drug, I discovered that while I thought I would have coverage through Cigna's plan, they have a clever method of avoiding payment. While coverage is provided for this anti-nausea drug, it is excluded for the dosage level prescribed (300mg). Coverage is provided for 100mg tablets, but not for 300mg tablets. That means if the doctor prescribes taking 3 of the 100mg tablets, the prescription drug coverage would be provided, however no coverage is provided for the 300mg tablet. This is illogical.

I'm guessing that more often than not this drug is prescribed at the higher dosage and thereby allowing CIGNA to deny coverage. When I attempted to discuss this issue with a CIGNA representative, I was told that their database was inoperable and I would have call back later. I told the representative that the information that I wished to discuss was a available for her to view on the internet and that the database didn't need to be accessed in order for her to answer my question. I heard the same phrase parroted back about their database. Based on my previous dealings with CIGNA, and from the other entries on this web site, I suspect that this is just normal business practices for CIGNA.
