Ideal Feet
Pressured into buying an unnecessary "orthodic' by fast talking salesperson. Dr. Says is overpriced, not custom made. It was less than 2 hours after, I was in real pain, they would not take it back

Health & Medicine

I had been diagnosed with Plantar Faciadis in 2001. I have been having a lot of problems in the last year or so. I felt kind of desperate to be out of pain. I visited the Ideal Feet Store in Arlington, TX on Nov. 11. After all the measuring, printing and balance testing, I was persuaded by a kind of fast talking sales guy that I would "start to heal from the ground up" if I started right away.
He took me into the back room of the store and didn't really take no for an answer. He also told me that they worked best in a "fresh" pair of shoes and not as well in used shoes. He did share the no refund policy, but I was convinced that the inserts would help me so I signed.
I walked out with the inserts, shoes, socks, and the cushion inserts and a $421 charge on my credit card. I went to a lunch date and my feet and legs were in excrutiating pain within a half an hour. I took them off and returned to the store. They would not delete the transaction even though it had been less than 2 hours after the purchase. I left it at the store, but the manager made me come get it the next day because they couldn't be responsible for it. I called American Express and they said to go get it. They also said they would help me with a claim after the charge posted. I tried calling the "Customer Service" hotline, leaving my name and number 5-6 times. They have yet to call me back.
I went to my Podiatrist on Mon., Nov. 16 and he said they were overpriced and they were not custom made so they may not really work and he hears complaints like mine all the time. I feel I was vulnerable because of my pain, which every customer who comes into one of their stores is in the same boat. If their product really worked, they would not have to resort to high pressure, fast talking, no refund policy tactics. The product would stand on it's own.
