Vices beware! These leeches are in business to take your money and deny your claim

About ten years ago, I was not happy with the premiums I was paying Blue Cross, and I made the biggest mistake of my life.

After a slick presentation by a salesperson, who assured me that Mid-West National Life Insurance of Tennessee was basically heaven-sent, and would take care of me so much better than Blue Cross, including airlifting me from Mexico if I was unfortunate enough to take ill on vacation; I signed up for my ultimate downfall.

These people operate in a fraudulent manner, and have been taken to court numerous times in various states. Ultimately, their profits are higher than their legal costs, millions in fines and sanctions, so they continue their egregiously corrupt practices.

They will fight you on each and every claim you make, hoping to wear you down. It took me well over a year to be reimbursed for mammograms which, by California law are covered. Even then, they would not pay my costs, but refunded the facilities I used (and had already paid) and told me I would have to get my money back from those facilities. One such facility had since gone out of business, but still this insurance company would not give me back my money.

Recently, I was diagnosed with a painful spinal condition that can only be relieved by surgery. I called Mid-West National Life Insurance of Tennessee to make sure the doctor I had chosen was "in network". They replied affirmatively.

Working closely with the doctor's surgical coordinator, and the hospital, I learned neither had ever seen such abjectly poor insurance. The hospital representative, after checking my benefits, commented that Mid-West National Life Insurance of Tennessee was "worse than Medi-Cal". It's not easy to claim that dubious honor. THEY EVEN REFUSED TO PAY FOR ANY ANESTHESIA!

They advised me that I would actually pay less out of pocket if I DID NOT GO WITH Mid-West National Life Insurance of Tennessee, BUT RATHER PAID CASH! Desperate for relief, I agreed to pay cash out of the proceeds of the sale of my house. When I discovered my cost for the surgery would exceed $70,000, I canceled it, realizing it would bankrupt me.

At the time I signed up for insurance with Mid-West National Life Insurance of Tennessee, I was young and healthy. At this point, I have a health issue which would elicit an automatic denial if I applied with a reputable company. (This health issue has not cost Mid-West National Life Insurance of Tennessee a single penny.) Also, my spinal problem would be considered "pre-existing", and would not be covered. My premiums have skyrocketed, and are now close to $600 a month, yet if I cancel, I could not get coverage.

I hope this will save others from making the same mistake I did. Stay with your reputable insurance company. Mid-West National Life Insurance of Tennessee is in business to take your money and deny your claim.
