After canceling insurance Mid West continued to debit our bank account

On December 28 I received a letter from an envelope marked Health Markets on the outside. On the inside there were two letters, one from Mid West National Life Insurance Co. Of Tennessee and another from Alliance for Affordable Services. The letter was informing me that there would be changes beginning Jan. 1 (yes just days away, not 30 days as required) as to how the draft from our bank account would be. Immediately I called Mid-west National and ask them what draft? I was shocked to hear that they had been drafting over $250 out of my bank account every month since Jan. 2005 for insurance coverage. Now the shock is that on Feb. 5 my husband cancelled this insurance coverage, because they opted to not cover him and my oldest son. After many conversations with several different representatives, we discovered that Mid West has documented the phone conversation that my husband had with a Dorothy Rivers and also the underwriting department on that Feb. 5th. Now also to add to this nightmare, we never received any correspondence from either company (Alliance was taking out $40 a month) or insurance cards or even word from the original sales person (Jennifer Rice) who is still employed with the agency (as per the agency). Now you may ask why didn't we see this draft before now. Let me tell you the draft did not indicate Mid West but AAS.

Well this is the simular to one of the subscriptions we have for malpractice insurance so it did not bring an alarm to myself, my husband or our accountant as being out of the ordinary. I learned a valuable lesson from that mistake. However, Mid West is refusing to refund any money. They also refuse to send me any documentation showing that any claims were ever filed (there were never claims filed, because we never received insurance cards because we canceled the coverage immediately.) So this company has taken over $9,000 of our money, knowing that we cancelled. I plan on getting the insurance commission for our state involved because this is not right. So consumers out there beware! Even if this company has documentation showing we made the call, it is still their word against the consumer. And oh by the way, the recorded phone calls they claim they have, we have yet to receive a copy of as we requested. We also requested for the paperwork to be sent to us and have yet to receive that. We did receive one phone call from a Ciara stating that she will research with her upper leadership, but can not guarantee anything.
