Denied cancelation and charged for another bill period

I called a local fitness on potero and tried to cancel my boyfriend's membership which is charge on my debit card they said every thing will be taken care off but the charge still went through my debit card. I called 1800 they said they have to record for cancelation and canceled that for me but will not give me my money back because it will take 30 days to process the cancelation. I mean really? The cancelation need to take that long.
Which it mean how ever after you canceled it you will be billed 1 more month.
It 's not fare. This is a fraud. How many people they doing this with.
