8 Months of Frustration of Disabled woman, with loss of mobility and money, unresolved

Health & Medicine

Eight months ago, I went online to find scooter to help me get around. Since I cannot walk without extreme pain, shopping store to store was impossible. My mother, who is 84 years old, said she wanted to buy a scooter for me to help me get around. I ordered a refurbished one for $1295.

It was supposed to come with a ramp and various free extras. They took the money immediately out of the bank account. I was moving to another state at the time so I asked them if they could get the scooter to me before I left. Yes, yes, they assured me. Sure enough, the scooter came 2 days before I had to leave. My husband checked it out to see if I could run it, but it was not runnable.

My husband is an engineer and he checked it out inside and out. We ended up having to return it to get our money back. This the company said they would do it, if we packed up this 80 pound package and send it back to them. So, before moving, we packed it all up again, the scooter and a box of accessories and sent it back.

I checked constantly to see if the money had been returned, but, the money was never returned to my moms account. I called and left messages 5 or 6 times and always got excuses about they couldn't return it to the account they took it from for some wrong number or such, so as soon as I corrected that, they said they had it sent now, as we were speaking on the phone. Ha,
This was going on over months. Then one day I got a email message saying they were sending a check to me for the whole amount. I was flabbergasted.

Two weeks later I did get a check and immediately put it in Mom's account. I thought finally all was resolved but I found out the check bounced and the bank charged my mom $19 dollars. For all she tried to do for me, that's where we are, 8 months later.
