This hospital will drug you in to submission and rip you off!

Kootenai Medical Center broke all kinds of laws about "informed" consent, patient autonomy, my right to decline any procedure or drug, my right to leave at any time, my right to know who my medical professionals are and what they were doing in my room. They only seemed interested in making my minor treatment into the most expensive possible. I fear that Kootenai isn't the only hospital doing this.

They drugged me against my will and said "we know what's best for you." I said no and they did it anyway. The patient relations person told me that once you are on their turf that anything goes. You think patient protection laws apply and that you can sue them or have any recourse at all? Dream on.

Apparently the hospital has no responsibility to make sure that the laws are complied with. They had nurses practicing on me, gave me a preventable disease, they drugged me into submission and then just went on with whatever they had in mind even though I said no. The CRNA was allegedly unsupervised, etc.

This hospital has been cited for violating my patient rights. Kootenai managed to TRIPLE THE COST of a minor outpatient procedure, and I still had to pay to have their botched procedure corrected, not to mention counseling for the violation of my body and my rights, AND the kidney infection I got from being their living cadaver for training purposes.

Whatever you do don't let anybody give you a drug called Versed/Midazolam. Once you are injected with this, you lose all of your rights as you are "incapacitated." It is very expensive to have "conscious sedation" with this drug, AND then they can go ahead and give you the rest of the expensive stuff, because you will probably have amnesia and you will be an obedient zombie. I said no to this too and they gave it to me anyway.

I consider this a rip off. I got way more treatment than I needed, wanted or gave permission for. No wonder health care costs are through the roof. And it isn't lawsuits.
