BAIT - For credit card authorization and surprise charges Boca Raton Florida

Health & Medicine

I clicked a pop-up to learn about a weight loss product that was offered "free" for only 5.99 shipping charge. They claimed it was advertised on Oprah, trying to appear like a nationally endorsed product. I scoured the information to look for hidden charges or other links to hidden charges but found none. I decided to try the sample.

I received the sample and experimented. There was no additional paperwork enclosed with the sample to facilitate contact with the company. After a short use, I decided the product was relatively useless. I returned to a site that I located by using the product name and could find NO information about how to contact the company, how to unsubscribe or otherwise eliminate the possibility of more product was coming.

A couple weeks later, i found a charge on my credit card bill for 88.62. I had received no additional product since the "free" sample. I called my credit card company to stop charges. They gave me phone numbers that I might have success reaching the company. When I called to "cancel" they claimed I had authorized the charge of $88.62 for the first bottle of pills, after the trial period of two weeks. No additional product had been sent. They expected $88.62 for the bottle of sixty pills which i did not use. I offered to return them. They did not ask for that.

I was unable to have a conversation with customer support; the rep simply repeated that "you agreed to the terms and this was what you agreed to." After getting quite angry and offering to expose them as a fraud, he reluctantly cancelled my account.
