Withdrew funds without authorization

I, too, have been ripped off by this company. I called on 10/24/08 to take advantage of their $. 97 sample offer. During the conversation, the calltaker mentioned an automatic plan and I specifically made it clear that I did NOT want to be placed on the automatic plan... That I wanted to try the product first and if I liked it, I would re-order.

She verified that I was only going to receive the sample for the $. 97 charge for shipping and handling.

Today I received my sample with an invoice for the $. 97 which had already been deducted from my checking account. A while later, I was doing a routine audit of my checking account and lo and behold... There was a charge for $36.00!!!

I immediately called the company and was told that a month's supply had been charged to my credit card (ATM). I repeated my conversation from a week earlier and was told I had to have called another number to cancel the automatic number, that they couldn't do it. I told them I was probably going to be overdrawn since I had just paid all of my bills and was low on money. She said she would not pay for any bank charges.

After eventually hanging up on the rude call taker, I called my bank and they will cancel my ATM card and reverse the charge as well as any NSF charges. (I love WAMU!) But I will have to wait 10-14 days to get another card.

I then realized that today was the 7th day and also realized that they processed the 30-day order without giving me the full benefit of the 7 day cancellation period!!! How can they get away with this???

I called another number and asked for the magical number for canceling. When I finally got through on that number, I was told my order had already been cancelled!!! HUH? But originally I was told they couldn't do it! Does anyone know what they are doing???

I would LOVE to see these ripoff artists get hauled into court. They cause so much trouble for the unsuspecting public. So don't get caught!!!
