My wife went to this dental office because her teeth were in pain. Since we have run into problems before, she asked them to contact the insurance company to make sure the procedure would be covered. They did this in front of her and assured there would be no charge and it was covered. They proceeded to "fix" her teeth and told her she would have to come back again.

Just before the next appointment, a bill arrived for 91 dollars? Confused, she called the office and they said what she had done was not covered and because she signed the form stating that she would pay for what was not covered, it was too bad. We called the insurance company who said that they told the dentist that it was not covered when they were contacted.

Turns out that they put temporary fillings in her mouth vice regular once (which would have been covered). We would have liked to have the choice before work is done if we am going to have to pay or not. That choice was taken away from us. And, yes, it is only 91 (97 now because of late charges), but it's the principle. They are a business and professionals, how were we to know that they don't know how to check with insurance to see if service they are a bout to provide are covered?

We feel that if a doctor's office tells you that they spoke with your insurance company about services you are about to receive, they would not lie you. If a mistake was made, they could have understood, reduced or remove the charge, and done the proper, coverd procedure.
