Membership Cancellation is not possible

Called Financial company to cancel my account and they said I had to go directly to Location to cancel Monday through Friday. I said I go past there only on Sunday's and with the high cost of gas I do not want to make a special trip so they said send a registered letter to cancel my membership. I sent the required registered letter which they received.

I am cancelling because I am on a fixed income and I cannot justify going there just on Sunday's and the $25 fee is too much for a one day work out once a week
They said even though I sent them a cancellation notice as required I cannot cancel until I bring my current account up to date even though I have not been able to use the membership because I just cannot afford it right now. With the late fee it is $40 that I owe and I they will continue to charge my account until I bring my account up to date.

My automatic pay was stopped when I cancelled my credit card. I will buy the $40 and will pay it eventually but I have told them I need to cancel my membership now. They will only cancel my account if I pay the $40. It seems like the thing to do but not right now. My social security check comes tomorrow and I have a whomping $12 in my account right now.

So Pure Fitness stand in line. I have others who want my money more. It is too bad that we cannot resolve this. I might have gone back if my situation got better.
