Deceptive, fraudulent, dishonest, cheating

Health & Medicine

I answered an email ad for a free sample of a product called Acai Berry Cleanse, which had a web page saying that it was a product that was rated number one by a famous talk show. I only had to pay shipping charges of $5.80, so I thought it might be worth a try.
I received my free sample within a few days, and I tried it only one day before I went on a three week vacation, so I don't know whether the product helps a person lose weight as it claims. A few days after I returned from vacation, I received a package that had two more bottles of the product, along with a notice that my credit card had been billed $88.97 in accordance with an agreement I had consented to in sending for the sample.in fact there was no mention of such an agreement on the two web pages I looked at before ordering, although there may have been a mention of it on a link to terms and conditions. Clearly, I was looking at this email invitation as an open invitation to try a product that might help in weight control.in retrospect I was being naive, but I was taking the ad at face value, the way the ad was presented. I would never have sent for the "free sample" if I had known that I was being set up to receive more bottles of the Acai Berry Cleanse in the future at this much higher price.
This marketing strategy used in this case is clearly deceptive. I am sure that there are many other out there who responded like me and have the same reaction to these dishonest practices as I do. I have sent the two bottles back to the company and have cancelled my "membership" on the web site referred to in the billing paper I received. That site says that I will receive an email confirming my cancellation, but I have received no such email. I also have contacted my credit card company to let them know that I am disputing this fraudulent charge. The credit card company said that I have to wait until IWIN Herbal receives my returned product and responds to me before they can take up the dispute.
From the other reports on Ripoff that I have read, IWIN Herbal will not be offering to credit my card for the $88.97 charged to the card. I have registered a complaint with the California Consumer Affairs Department, and I hope that enough people have been burned by the fraudulent practices of IWIN Herbal and complained about it that this company will be put out of business or face fines that will cause them to change the way they are doing business. The people running this company are simply liars and cheaters and should not be in business at all.
