Thiefs took my money and gave me nothing

I signed up for Lipozap a few months ago. I couldnt afford to pay them the whole amount right away so we worked out a payment plan. I get paid weekly so every week i would drive to Costa Mesa (which wasnt that far from my work) and make a payment. I wrote them checks so that i would have proof that i paid them. I paid them over $1300 and I had my appointment for my treatment scheduled and everything. Then i got a call from this automated recording saying that my appointment was cancelled and would not be rescheduled. I didn't know why. I tried calling them but i couldnt get through. So on my day off I drove to Costa Mesa to one of their offices to find out that they had went out of business. No word on if i would ever get my money back. I have the lady's cell # who signed me up. Her phone has been disconnected. I also have the Doctors name because i wrote me a perscription. I really just want my money back. I don't care about the surgery anymore.
