Took payment for rent and deposit, did not pay Lessor. Failed to disclose their financial position

Leland Turner and Kevin Carpenter negotiated a sublease for my office to rent space in their store, Harmony Healty Foods. They took my deposit in December. They told me Harmony Healthy Foods had been in business 9 years, and they had 3 more years on their lease agreement.

They took my rent on March 2. Then as a total surprise to me, on March 3 they told me they were filing for bankruptcy, would lose their business, their house, their luxury SUV, their BMW Z3, etc.

No one loses all their property in bankruptcy without knowing for a long time of their financial situation. They took my rent one day, then declared bankruptcy the next, and did not pay the rent to the commercial property landlord! Leland Turner and Kevin Carpenter failed to disclose to their sublettor what they should have.

After they closed their store on March 30, the did not even notify their customers from whom they had collected membership fees for their low carb, low sugar program during February.

Short of calling these guys fraudsters, these guys really did not disclose their poor financial condition, but made it look like they were doing well to dupe folks! Don't let it happen to you. They are still operating their website on harmonyhealthyfoods.com
