Cancels Retirees Health Benefits, Caps Life Insurance to $10,000, Cancels Monthly Subsidy for Part D Medicare Rx Drug Coverage Home Office

On July 28 I received a brochure (4 page letter) dated July 26, from Embarq, that as of January 1. Embarq would no longer provide medical coverage to Medicare eligible retirees and their ME dependents.
Also, effective Jan 1 the life insurance would be capped out at $10,000.
Starting Jan. 1 Embarq will no longer provide a monthly subsidy for Medicare premiums (meaning Part D Rx Drug Coverage of $41.67 per month).
Calling the Embarq at their home office in Overland Park, Kansas from the tel # in the brochure 888-722-4372, proved absolutely useless. After waiting on hold for about 10 minutes, a Cust Service Rep. Answered. I asked her "Why is this happenening, why are we loosing our medical coverage, and our monthly Rx subsidy, and why is my life insurance policy now only worth $10,000.00".
Her answer was, QUOTE " The only thing I can tell you is, that you will receive more information by mid-September." END QUOTE
Today is Sept 10.. I have yet to receive any information from Embarq, concerning "Why this is happening". I checked all the newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Investors Business Daily, listened and watched the news channels, like ABC, FOX, CNBC. I checked the financial business reports at Yahoo, for Embarq, looking for any "Press Release" releated to this subject. I spoke to many, many of my retireed friends from Embarq, and they received all the same information as I did.
I even went as far to call the IBEW local where I retired from and I received the same answer..."No-Body knows anything".
How can this be? Heres a telecommunication company, regulated by the FCC, and not one person, either at Embarq, or the media, knows anything, or does not want the general public to know... WHY IS THIS HAPPENING???
