At The Beach
Cancellation problems ripoff rude customer service unsupportive of military members with special circumstances

My husband and I were both military. I was stationed at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, and he was stationed in another state. I decided that before I was reunited with him, I wanted to look my best. So, I went to At The Beach to do some tanning. When I got my contract I was assured that I would have no problems ending my contract when I moved. Now, it has been four months that we have been trying to reason with them. Over $200 we have paid for a service I have not used. When my husband calls to sort things out, he is yelled at and hung up on. Even though they had a copy of my military orders, they refuse to use that as proof that I have moved out of state. They said that in order to cancel my contract I have to send $75, three bills with a new adress, and a copy of my drivers license. My home of record is Arizona, so I have an Arizona drivers license. However, we currently live in another state, which is where my bills are sent. They have refused to accept this, even though both of my residences are over the designated distance away. They are demanding that I get a new driver's license that will cost me more money, and I will have to have mailed to me which could take four to six weeks, so I will have to pay another months bill to At The Beach.

We called the CEO, asking for his help in the matter. We have a lease agreement, I have check stubs showing that I pay taxes to this state. There are plenty of other ways other than a drivers license to prove that I am staying here on a somewhat permanent basis, as long as the miliitary does not move us. The CEO refused to make any concessions in the matter to help us. Like I said, we were willing to pay the fee and send in the bills. We just want the matter resolved as quickly and painlessly as possible, but they refuse to work with us. At this time, we are pursuing legal avenues, not only for our benefit, but for the benefit of all the other customers and potential customers of At The Beach.
