Back in 1999, I signed up for Balley's Total Fitness. I specifically asked teh sales people if I would be able to cancel the membership at anytime as I was not sure I would be staying in that area. They assured me that I would and he even brought in the manager. I also asked about the terms of the contract and was told that the three years was only so that my rate would not change if I stayed with the gym for three years. I specifically asked them if I was a signing a three year contract and I was told that I was not. Well, several days later I decided that I did not want to join the gym and called them to cancel. They then told me that I only had 24 hours to cancel and that I had signed a contract. I told them that i was so specifically told that I had not and was basically told "too bad". Then when I requested to see the contract, they never sent me a copy and I had contacted a lawyer. This has ruined my credit report and has been on there for almost 7 years now. I would really like to resolve this issue but am unsure of how to proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. They state that I owe them the 2,500 dollars.
